Behavioral Health Center

Inpatient Psychiatric Care - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

The Behavioral Health Center at the Regional Medical Center is a 15-bed, inpatient psychiatric care unit serving adults 18 years and older who require a short inpatient stay. Treatment is available for a variety of conditions including, but not limited to, depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and extreme anxiety.

The Behavioral Health Center offers comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessments and structured individual, group and family programming provided by a multidisciplinary team of highly qualified professionals.

This team is led by a psychiatrist and includes a primary care physician, psychologist, mental health counselor, activity therapist, occupational therapist, social worker, psychiatric nurses and certified nursing assistants. Other disciplines are included in the individual treatment planning as a need is identified. Additional disciplines may include physical therapist, speech therapist, pharmacist, community agency representatives and medical specialists.

The Behavioral Health Center program is designed to educate patients and families to better manage their conditions and ongoing recovery by developing healthier coping skills and a safe and secure follow-up plan for post discharge care.

Behavioral Health Center offers patients:
  • Psychiatric Consultation
  • Individualized Treatment Planning 
  • Individual and Group Therapy 
  • Occupational Therapy 
  • Nutritional Therapy
  • Medication Management
  • After Care Planning and Follow-up

 

 

    
Some symptoms of mental health disorders:
  • Sadness/crying spells
  • Mood swings
  • Insomnia
  • Sleeping too much
  • Appetite changes
  • Irritability or short temper
  • Seeing or hearing things others do not see or hear
  • Feeling of wanting to die
  • Wanting to harm others

Pathways to Behavioral Health

The Regional Medical Center offers outpatient behavioral health services for children (ages three and older) and adults.

Pathways services include:

  • Differential diagnosis of psychiatric and behavioral disorders
  • Intellectual assessments 
  • Evaluation of cognitive disorders, including memory impairment
  • Individual, marital and family therapy 
  • Educational-based therapy for development of self-management skills

Clinical staff will provide evaluation and treatment of a variety of mental health disorders including:

  • Adjustment Disorders 
  • Anxiety Disorders 
  • Depression and Mood Disorders
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder 
  • Attention Deficit Disorder
  • Marital and Family Dysfunction
  • Bereavement

The Pathways clinical staff includes two licensed clinical psychologists and two licensed professional counselors.
