RMC's rehabcentre®, an inpatient rehabilitation unit, is designed to help physically disabled and injured people regain their independence and return to productive lives.

The rehabcentre® offers the most intensive level of therapy of any post-acute setting, and the goal is to return each patient to the highest level of function and independence as soon as possible. More than 80 percent of our patients return home after an average stay of 12 days, which exceeds national average.

Patients receive three hours of therapy daily, which can consist of a combination of physical, occupational and speech therapies.

The rehabcentre® team includes:

  • A Medical Director with more than 20 years of experience in internal medicine and six years in rehabilitation
  • Experienced rehabilitation nurses providing 24-hour care
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapists
  • Case Manager and Social Worker

Kitchen facilities at RMC's rehabcentre® in Orangeburg, SC In addition to private and semi-private rooms, the facility features a dining room, gymnasium, kitchen and a small apartment, all designed to allow patients to practice activities of daily living and improve their functional skills.

Individuals who benefit from the rehabcentre® include those who,
as a result of injury or illness, are experiencing:

  • Balance and coordination problems
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Difficulty moving in bed or from one place to another
  • Difficulty performing daily living activities such as eating, grooming, dressing, bathing and homemaking
  • Memory and judgment difficulties, speech or language problems or physical limitations

Amputee Support Group

Amputees and their family members need help adjusting to the changes in their lives. Connecting with other amputees to share experiences, information and advice can be incredibly beneficial in helping improve quality of life and regain self-confidence. Monthly meetings with special topics to provide support and encouragement to amputees and family members are held the 1st Thursday of each month (except holidays) in the rehabcentre® dining room, RMC's 4th floor, at 5:00 pm. The meetings are FREE and no registration is required.
