Endoscopy is a non-surgical procedure used to examine a person’s digestive tract, body cavity or organ to diagnose a variety of illnesses. An endoscope, a flexible tube with an attached camera and light, is inserted through a natural opening, such as the mouth for an Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) or the rectum for a sigmoidoscopy, which allows the physician to view images of the area on a color TV monitor.
RMC’s endoscopy procedures include:
- Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
- Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) placements and replacements
- pH and motility studies
- Endo capsules
RMC’s endoscopy services are available by appointment and 24 hours a day for emergencies.
