RMC Welcomes New Obstetrician to OB/GYN Practice


OB/GYN Alessia Perry, MD, MPH has joined RMC Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Obstetrician and Gynecologist Alessia Perry, MD, MPH has joined the Regional Medical Center (RMC) medical staff and the RMC Obstetrics & Gynecology practice.

“It is important for RMC to meet the growing needs of our community. Dr. Perry’s specialty in obstetrics and gynecology will greatly enhance RMC’s healthcare services for women,” said RMC Interim President & CEO Bert Whitaker.

Dr. Perry completed her obstetrics/gynecology residency at Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., that included an outside elective clinical rotation in the Philippines. She received her medical degree at the Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies. Dr. Perry received a master’s degree in public health from Mercer University School of Medicine, in Macon, Ga. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga.

Dr. Perry is a member of the American Public Health Association, and has research experience in women’s and public health.

Dr. Perry has an identical twin sister who is also an obstetrician and gynecologist. They completed medical school and their residency together and hope to reconnect their medical careers in the future.

Dr. Perry joins three board-certified physicians, David Gillespie, MD, Whitney Thoma, MD, and Thomas Key, MD, and certified nurse midwife Patti Smith at RMC Obstetrics & Gynecology.

RMC providers and other local obstetricians deliver babies at Her Place, RMC’s maternity care unit, which is a designated Blue Distinction Center+ by BlueCross and BlueShield for excellence in maternity care.
