RMC Offering Safe Sitter® Babysitting Course
The Regional Medical Center (RMC) will offer a Safe Sitter® babysitting training course for students ages 11 – 14 on Thursday, June 6, 2019 in the RMC Community Outreach Building located at 1324 Hutto Street, Orangeburg.
The Safe Sitter® program provides young sitters practical knowledge about safe child care and includes instructions on how to handle life-threatening emergencies when caring for younger children. Students get hands-on practice in basic life-saving techniques and will receive helpful tips of safety precautions, how to understand children of different ages, and the business of babysitting. The Safe Sitter® program motto is “Better Sitters Today. Better Parents Tomorrow.”
The program is a one-day course from 9:00 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. The cost of the course is $25 per child and includes a snack, lunch and a Safe Sitter® Kit with supplies.

About Safe Sitter®
Safe Sitter® was founded in 1980 by Indianapolis pediatrician Dr. Patricia A. Keener after a colleague's 18-month-old choked to death while under an adult sitter's care. Troubled by the lack of educational programming for sitters and young adults, Dr. Keener developed Safe Sitter® as a medically-accurate instructional program designed for young teens, no younger than 11.
