RMC Names New President & CEO


The Regional Medical Center (RMC) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles E. Williams, MBA, MOT, FACHE as President & Chief Executive Officer effective December 11, 2017.

“The Board welcomes Charles with his wealth of healthcare experience and management qualifications. He has more than 20 years of experience driving continuous improvements across healthcare operations,” said RMC Board of Trustees Chairman Melvin Seabrooks. “With Charles’ broad-based healthcare management experience, I’m certain that he will bring experience, energy and enthusiasm while providing leadership and driving quality improvement for our healthcare system.”

The unanimous decision by the Board of Trustees is the result of a comprehensive search and recruitment process. The nationwide search was conducted by Witt/Kieffer. Candidates were evaluated by RMC’s Board of Trustees, the Medical Executive Committee and members of the Medical Staff and Senior Leadership.

Williams has held a variety of leadership roles, most recently as Vice President of Performance Standards and Clinical Operations for Tenet Healthcare Corporation. Previously, Charles served as Chief Operating Officer at Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas; Vice President of Operations at JPS Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas; Director of Physical Medicine at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center in Mansfield, Texas; and Director of Rehabilitation Services at LifeCare Hospitals in Fort Worth, Texas.
Williams earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, Texas, a Master of Occupational Therapy degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health/Health Studies from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).

Williams has held many leadership roles in professional affiliations including board member of the University of Texas at Arlington Advisory Board for Master’s Degrees in Healthcare Administration, board member of the East Dallas Chamber of Commerce, board member of the Arlington YMCA, and board member of Mansfield Economic Development Corporation. He served on the editorial board for Management in Healthcare, a peer-reviewed journal.

In 2016, Williams received the University of Texas at Arlington College of Business Alumni Award for Outstanding Early Career Achievement, and was featured in the winter/spring edition of African-American Career World. He also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Texas at Arlington African – American Alumni Association in 2015. Williams was recognized by the Dallas Business Press’s 40 Under 40 in 2012 and the Fort Worth Business Press’s 40 Under 40 in 2009.

He and his wife Demetra have two children and plan to reside in Orangeburg or Calhoun County.

Williams is eager to begin his role as CEO. “As a servant leader I am humbled and honored to be selected as the new President and CEO for the Regional Medical Center. I look forward to partnering with the Board of Trustees, physicians, nurses, clinical and non-clinical team members to provide the highest level of quality care and healthcare experience to the wonderful people of Orangeburg & Calhoun Counties.”
